Sectional map of Mars from 'The Mars Transmission' Sci-fi novel.

BELOW: The Mars transmission source was pinpointed by a satellite surveyor, and was responsible for the selected landing site. Also shown is a remote outpost, which was set up to extend the crew's search range capabilities. This became necessary as they followed a course set by a underground conduit discovered by GPR (ground penetrating radar). The underground conduit path led them to a hidden alien structure that was built inside a canyon wall.

The 'Marvel' in subtitle of map refers to a combustion engine Mars Rover Vehicle that uses fuels produced from Martian resources, a concept roughly based on Zubrin's 'Case For Mars' descriptions. The vehicle is fictional, the technology conceptually is 'real'. This "stale" nickname for the rover stuck after three given names were dropped due to public outcries and controversy, as each given name either offended or excluded at least one special interest group in the joint free nations that supported the mission. (Actually, some version of all the vehicles in my novel will be built for a manned Mars mission, and I just didn't want to guess or inadvertently try to participate in the naming process)

The novel includes an inflatable winged surveyor operated by the crew, that has a solar powered engine for maneuverability using satellite assisted remote guidance. The concept is becoming less sci-fi? Story: Instant Glider--Just add Light -

Allow your eyes to have a relaxed focus on the pyramid. For most, the image takes on a 3-D effect without any special tools, but this likely varies with browser and monitor settings. Give it a try...
